Jan 18, 2024 Season 1 Episode 28
Dr. Juanita Collier, MS, OD, FCOVD

Today we have a "minisode" to celebrate the beginning of 2024. The new year already brings a new and exciting program: 4D Built to Learn.
It was developed to make vision training accessible to families all over the world. By enjoying the exciting exercises and games on a regular basis, you'll notice improved reading stamina and comprehension, reduced headaches and car-sickness, and better sports performance for your child.

4D Built to Learn works by strengthening the neural pathways related to vision. This not only improves visual skills but also enhances cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and problem-solving.

If you've noticed that your bright child is struggling more than necessary for mediocre grades, it could be related to their eyes! Things you may notice include:

  • Poor reading comprehension
  • Frequent reversals of numbers, letters, or words when reading and writing
  • Headaches
  • Car or motion sickness
  • Blurry vision up close or far away
  • Words or pictures appear to "swim" on the page.
  • Poor sports performance
  • Difficulty paying attention to one task for more than 15 minutes.
  • Clumsiness or frequent bumping into objects or people

In this episode you’ll hear about:

(00:00) Intro
(01:38) What is 4D Built to Learn and who's it for?

Dr. Juanita Collier:  Welcome to the It Could Be Your Eyes Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Juanita Collier.  Through my decades of work in the field of vision, I've met thousands of patients, parents, educators, therapists, and doctors searching for solutions to the seemingly unsolvable.  Challenging traditional medicines new normal?
We'll uncover that the root cause isn't necessarily what you thought it might be. It could be your eyes.

Jessica Liedke: Hi everyone. Happy 2024. Welcome back to It Could Be Your Eyes. I'm your podcast co host, Coach Jess. And I wanted to hop on quickly for a little mini sode to say, Happy New Year. We hope that you had a very restful, wonderful holiday break and that your kids are back into the swing of things. The holiday season can be so upheaval ridden and now it's just nice to settle into the new routine with a refreshed sense of purpose and resolve.

And if you are resolving to help your child be as amazing as they are and show the world that they are that amazing, that they can be a excellent reader, that they can excel in sports, that they can be fantastic, confident kids that you see in their hearts that you know are there but haven't had necessarily the chance to shine, we want to introduce to you our newest program.

It's called 4D Built to Learn. And it's specifically designed for ages four to nine in a fun game like platform where you will guide your child to do vision training exercises that are really fun and really engaging. And not just here's your game and this is how you do it. There's also levels. Okay.

That was too easy. Let's bump it up. Okay, that was kind of hard. Let's bump it down. If that was not fun enough, let's make it more fun. And we have different suggestions and ideas on how to engage and really challenge your child using these really fun and wonderful, impactful,  effective, training methods that we have seen improve reading scores, that we have seen improve sports performance, that we have seen build confidence in kids and help them not bump into things or be so clumsy or be more confident when reading in front of the class or just an overall more bright,  effervescent child that has always been there but has never been given the chance to shine.

So this is our way to give you a monthly membership of digital vision training where you are provided the tools and the engaging exercises to help your child build those visual foundational skills necessary for all the things that they like and want.

It's a monthly membership. You log into a platform and then we give you all the tools to do things on your own in real life. As you go through and you engage in more and more and more of these challenges, you are rewarded. You get badges and you'll unlock new levels. You, it's, it's just like a, any other kind of video game, except you're doing these challenges.

So, um, in real life, not on the screen, adding to even more screen time for your kids, right? But, you still have the component where they can watch the videos with you, they can log in, see what rewards they've unlocked, and then move on and go to bigger and better and more exciting challenges. Depending on the level of membership that you choose, and there are a couple different options.

You may be also getting things in the mail, and what kid doesn't love getting things in the mail? And these tools are things that you can use to help build these skills and really push your child to excel in the best way that we know how. We know that engaging your child in these different exercises helps remap the neurological processing of vision.

We know changes in the brain happen when you engage in these exercises. In a continual, in a consistent way, and we know that you are going to see your child blossom when they really engage in these exercises a little bit at a time, little bit every day. Consistent practice makes the difference. This is my little note to you from parent to parent.

This is a great exercise program to get into with your child. It is a really exciting way to dip your toe into vision therapy and start to see some results happen. Go to our website, we're linked down here in our bio, look around, zone, scope it out, and let us know if there's anything that we can do to help answer any question.

So as we go forward into 2024, look forward to hearing from us more as well. If you have any topics that you would love us to cover with, when it comes to vision and vision therapy and working with kiddos with visual developmental delays, please reach out and let us know. We love hearing from you. We love hearing your feedback.

And we are really excited for what's to come this year on the podcast.  Until we see you again, please stay warm, stay safe, have a fabulous, wonderful January, and we'll talk to you soon. Bye.
